T Zero Multisport
T-Zero Multisport was founded to provide triathlon training camps and services. We are dedicated to bring the
most comprehensive training programs to enable the participant to compete succussfully in triathlons, or simply
to get in shape. We draw from a number of professionals with different areas of expertise.
The Story : [If you're a little bit curious about a triathlon, then this is for you!]
The Ironman triathlete is a special breed stacking three physically exhausting events back-to-back into one
daunting display of determination that has had most of us on the sidelines asking "Why?" Some of us who get
our workouts from running, cycling or swimming separately and not all at once end up asking How? It's hard
enough to imagine what it might take to complete 26.2 miles of a marathon. For some, that's all they dream
about doing. Add on a 2.5-mile swim and a 112-mile bike ride, and the goal seems more like the pipe dream
of a fitness nut.
In fact, this is not so. Surprisingly, it takes more determination than long hours of training to get
started. I see triathletes set apart mainly by a higher set of expectations for themselves. Most start
out as "Weekend Warriors" who have gotten into the fitness routine of either running, cycling or swimming
separately. Being in a routine long enough allows for a series of fitness plateaus and new challenges to be
set. Longer and more challenging goals inspire confidence and eventually a lighthearted competitive spirit
develops. It's this intangible spirit that brings the recreational athlete into the realm of a whole new
world.
If you're a little bit curious about a triathlon then this is for you. And the best thing is you don't need
to be a super fit recreational athlete to participate. The average learning curve for getting it all down
right is about a year of trial and error. You may need more than just a weekend triathlon clinic to
establish a proper exercise base and training habits for long term success, explains Lloyd Taylor the
CEO and Founder of Triathlon LAB, Inc., which is headquartered in Redondo Beach, CA. Lloyd has been
a fixture in the Los Angeles triathlon community for more than 10 years. He has been involved in the
design and creation of several triathlons, triathlon-related companies and product manufacturing and
is one of the original founding directors of the LA Tri Club. The main goal for this triathlon company
is to build upon a well-established infrastructure of sports-related professionals such as coaches,
trainers and doctors to create a network of invaluable human services, say's Robert Keating - Operations
Director. When most people visit the lab for the first time they are surprised to find the scope of our
expertise travels well beyond these four walls. "We work patiently to earn a customer's trust every day, and we've
become the hardest-working community-minded triathlon company in this business.
We hire outside professional USAT-Triathlon Coaches,
SCAQ-Southern California Aquatics Coaches and Running and Cycling Professional Athletes and even Chiropractic
& Sports Medicine Doctors with Rehab & Exercise Physiology/Biomechanics specialties to help teach injury
prevention to our campers. From the outside, it all seems very tiring. Lloyds Calendar Year shows no less
than 37 weekends out of the year in which he's actively traveling to triathlon races he sponsors, or to
other companies camp and clinic programs, providing technical support or even Wind Tunnel testing his own
racing equipment. And with the buzz of their popularity beginning to spread everywhere by word "of" mouth,
it's easy to understand why they do what they do every day, every month, all year long...it's Passion!
The results speak for themselves. "After completing their Summer '05 Tri Camp, I lost 20 pounds. Now, I am a
healthy fitness machine and living proof that anyone who puts their mind to it can accomplish their goals,"
says Charles Love. Within four months of completing the camp, Love completed his second triathlon ever,
the Inaugural Silverman Triathlon in Henderson, NV, finishing arguably the most difficult "Ironman"
distance in North America with a split time of 1:30 Swim, 7:14 Bike, 5:29 Run and 14:30:09 overall.
Remarkably, some campers just keep coming back for a second and third camp. Another past camp participant
was so inspired that he talked his wife into racing triathlon. Now they are both mentoring a large
group of 35 co-workers for a future lab camp. "They just get it! They understand the human condition
and the care it takes to motivate 50 people who have never done a triathlon through a training program
successfully," exclaimed Marq Landau. And the success stories don't end there. Past participants can
boast 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Place Age Group Award podium finishes as well as a 17th Place overall,
showing that some campers not only crossed the finish line, but they kicked butt too!
Among the participants have been moms and dads of twins or of 3-4 children, completing their camps
separately, married couples and lots of single men and women of all ages and ability levels. "I've
watched great friendships created and new relationships formed," says Taylor. Indeed, they offer many
other social club-like opportunities throughout many of their supplemental weekly workouts, including
virtual indoor cycling, yoga for triathletes, running, swimming and even BBQs and a "Year-End Campers
Holiday Party".
This is why T Zero Multisport is offering a variety of triathlon camps and training clinics.
Each of their programs is designed for various level participants all geared towards getting them in shape
and ready to participate successfully in the triathlon of their choice throughout the season. T-Zero Multisport
develops training camps for the Redondo Beach Tri, Hermosa Beach Tri, Los Angeles Tri, Women's Danskin
Tri, Silverman Tri and Breath of Life Triathlon.
Choosing camp locations is an ambitious undertaking in itself. Each of the weekend camp sessions utilizes
unique locations throughout the Los Angeles area, Orange County and the South Bay. They have used the 5
0-meter pool and track facilities at Cal State Long Beach, Loyola Marymount University and local high
schools, as well as local running trails and popular beach locations for ocean clinics. "A fantastic
training infrastructure already exists throughout our local communities. We chose different locations for
their proximity to offer safety and a diversified workout terrain. I think its important for the campers
to utilize real world conditions for training that they will race in," explains Taylor. "Some camp sessions
are held in a classroom setting, and the rest are held in the beautiful outdoors of Southern California."
Throughout this 4-, 8- or 10-week course, participants will experience a fun, noncompetitive training
environment. Every Saturday or Sunday morning, an experienced, friendly coaching staff will guide you
through each of the three disciplines of the triathlon. You will learn all the separate components
needed to become a competent triathlete. These include: exercise safety, warm-up and cool-down techniques,
core and flexibility training, proper form, endurance training, swim stroke basics, ocean swimming, bike
component and triathlon equipment preparation, basic bicycle handling, riding techniques, proper gear
selection, cycling position and aero dynamics, running for performance, sub-max heart-rate training,
hydration, nutrition and diet basics, stretching and weight training for athletes, injury prevention,
race transitioning techniques and post-race recovery.
